Ben Çoktan Gidersiniz Sanmıştım
On Thursday, July 23, the play “I Thought You’d Left Long Ago,” featuring Hakan Kurtaş’s magnificent performance, will be staged at the Zai Bodrum open-air theater.
“I Thought You’d Left Long Ago,” a play about those who lose the ones they love deeply, is a poignant portrayal of real life and the relationship between humans and animals.
In a world where love—described in a single word as “perfection”—means being able to let go even while loving deeply, or where the language of romance is defined by “finding balance,” “spending time together,” and “going out,” understanding the pain behind these words requires serious upheavals, loss of sight, and the necessity of staying indoors for a year.
This play is a fleeting moment between life and death—frightening and just as alluring. Perhaps it’s the edge of a piece of advice that says those who can face their fears are the ones who win.
A few breaths we take as our childhood slips away, while our eyes and hearts yearn for all the sensations of the world.
A song that says it will pass.
Or a bogeyman telling you to stay a child.
The choice is yours.
Does anyone have a question?
We do:
“When did your childhood end? How deeply were you hurt, and when was it—back when you were this small, this tiny, this easily broken thing; when you were nothing more than two big eyes, a heart, and a few hundred words? Isn’t it perfect that we’ll never heal? Our wounds, our scars, ladies and gentlemen. Being taken lightly, being abused—oh, heaven, heaven. Living in fear, tailoring pain to our needs. I’m serious. What a happy life. What a beautiful game.”
Isn’t being alive an amazing thing?
I don’t know.
Maybe.
